Flint Firefighter Rico Phillips Wins NHL Community Award – The Good News
We LOVE Rico and we are SO happy for him!
Flint Firefighter and the founder of the Flint Youth Hockey Program was in Las Vegas last night with the other nominees for the Willie O'Ree Community Award. The award is descriubed by the NHL as given "to an individual who - through the game of hockey - has positively impacted his or her community, culture or society."
He came on the show in April last month to talk about the award and the Flint Inner City Hockey Program; voting opened up online and Flint stepped up.
Last night, the NHL awards took place at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, and Willie O'Ree himself announced our very own Rico as the WINNER!
Congratulations, Rico! Flint can't wait to celebrate with you!
