Flint Firefighter & Hockey Player Rico Phillips Nominated for NHL Award

Rico Phillips is a quartermaster for the Flint Fire Department, and he's also one of three finalists for an award from the National Hockey League.
Yes, hockey. In case you don't know Rico, here's how it all ties in.
Rico is the founder of the Flint Inner City Youth Hockey Program, which promotes hockey for ALL children, regardless of socioeconomic circumstances. And now, he's up to win the Willie O'Ree Community Hero Award from the NHL...and has the support of Willie himself.
Phillips brought Willie O'Ree to Flint back in March, and he actually pulled his wife aside and told her to nominate him.
