Eligible Michigan Families Getting Additional Assistance in April

There's great news for Michigan families who receive food assistance benefits from the state of Michigan. Eligible families are in line to receive extra funds in the month of April, according to an announcement by state officials.

According to Gover Gretchen Whitmer's office, the extra assistance is meant to help eligible Michigan families who may be struggling to pay for groceries due to record-high inflation.

How Much Extra Are Michigan Families Getting?

State officials say eligible Michigan families will be receiving an extra $95 in food benefits during the second half of April.

Those who are eligible will be receiving the extra funding on the Bridge Cards between April 16 and April 25.

The benefits are expected to be applied automatically. Michigan families who qualify for the extra assistance this month do not need to apply or fill out any additional paperwork.

CW50 reports that the money will be loaded on the cards as an additional payment, separate from the assistance that was provided earlier in the month.

Who is Eligible for the Additional Assistance?

State officials report that the additional funds will be distributed to about 1.31 million Michiganians in more than 700,000 households across the state.

On Tuesday, Meijer stores in Michigan announced that families who receive assistance through the state's EBT card program are now eligible to use those benefits when ordering groceries from Meijer stores for pickup or home delivery.

Heretofore, Meijer customers who were using SNAP benefits for grocery items were ineligible to use the retailer's home delivery and in-store pickup options.
