Michigan-Bound Flight Suddenly Diverted Over Ebola Concerns
If you're flying into Michigan anytime soon, this story might make you take a second look at who's on your plane.
Why The Flight Never Reached Detroit
An Air France flight headed from Paris to Detroit was suddenly diverted to Montreal, Canada, after U.S. authorities discovered a passenger on board who wasn't supposed to be traveling into the United States under new Ebola-related restrictions according to CBS News. The flight was originally scheduled to land at Detroit Metro Airport, but officials stepped in before it reached Michigan.

According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, the passenger had recently been in the Democratic Republic of Congo and was mistakenly allowed to board the flight. Because of emergency travel rules put in place to help prevent Ebola from entering the U.S., authorities prohibited the plane from landing in Detroit and redirected it to Montreal instead.
Officials Say There Was No Medical Emergency on Flight
The good news is there was never a medical emergency on board. Health officials later said the passenger showed no symptoms of Ebola and was evaluated after landing in Canada.

Still, the incident highlights how seriously officials are treating the current Ebola outbreak in parts of Central and East Africa.
