Consumers Energy is launching a "Summer Time of Use Rate" and I can already see the beads of sweat creating a river down my lower back.

Basically, they're going to raise your energy rates between 2 and 7 PM throughout the summer if you're in one of the chosen zip codes. In 2020, everybody will be part of this rate program.

The short and skinny is that you'll pay less the rest of the day. They're encouraging people to cut down on their electricity during peak hours. So, turn off the A/C and you'll pay less.

And, if you don't like it, doesn't matter because we're all gonna pay it starting next year.
