The 28-acre parcel purchased by an Indian tribe is still a hopeful site for them to build a casino. The land, near Lennon and Dutcher roads by Genessee Valley Center, would be used to build a casino, if legal wrangling will allow. There is a legal challenge that forced the closing of a casino in March near Gaylord, that the tribe is appealing. If the property in Flint is declared Indian land, the township would lose $19,000 annually in property taxes. The trade off could be a $2 million annual payment from the casino in lieu of taxes.
