Is This Detroit Hot Spot Really The Ugliest Building in Michigan?
They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and apparently. What's one person's Mona Lisa is another person's toddler's finger painting, and that looks like it applies to buildings as well. News Flash... people are pretty opinionated too.
Travel A Lot decided to take a look at those buildings across the country that may not exactly be everybody's "cup of tea". We're talking about those architectural designs that leave some onlookers shaking their heads as to why anyone would think those buildings were appealing to the eye.
Not only did they pick the "Ugliest Building in Each State", but they also ranked them as well, just to add a little insult to injury. Now that the dust has settled, you may, or may not, be surprised by the Detroit building that earned the honor of being the "Most Unsightly Building in Michigan"
Drum roll please...and the winner is...Motor City Casino. The popular downtown casino and hotel apparently is not a fan favorite for some, especially the crew at Travel A Lot. Not only did Motor City Casino make the list, but it also found itself ranked #16 out of 50 on the list for being the ugliest.
Here's what Travel A Lot has to say about the casino in the heart of the "D"-
"If this building were in Las Vegas, it would fit right in. Unfortunately, it’s in Detroit. Casinos are already depressing, but this design just makes this one more so", they wrote. "The building might stand out from an architecture standpoint, but, surprisingly, it's not the only casino in Detroit--the city actually boasts four of them, despite their relative rarity in urban settings. The curved roof is supposed to be reminiscent of a car, but it just looks like a slick hairstyle to me".
Personally, I think they were a bit harsh on the casino that not only offers gaming and great dining but an awesome concert venue with Sound Board. Seems it may be more of a strictly judging a book by its cover.
No worries MCC, we still think you're a great addition to Detroit...inside and out.
