A Flint funeral home is being accused of stacking bodies in cardboard cremation boxes inside an un-refrigerated garage, and other practices that may be considered unseemly and illegal. A Lansing funeral director filed the complaint after observing the questionable practices at Swanson Funeral Home in Flint.

Darin Vickers tells ABC-12 that he witnessed decomposing bodies in a garage, blood-stained casket pillows and a horrible odor when he visited the facility on Martin Luther King Ave. in Flint.

“When I walked in the door of Swason's, you had this very definite odor of decomposition, death basically, and that is a smell you never forget,” Vickers said. “Probably one of the most disturbing things were the puddles of fluid. Whether it was bodily fluid or whatever in the prep room and they told me to watch my step."

Vickers has since filed a complaint with the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs. Additional reports indicate that others have filed complaints against the facility with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
