The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Flint is teaming up with some area businesses this weekend to help those in need.

The holiday's are over but the need is just beginning. I stopped into the Food Bank Of Eastern Michigan yesterday. When I walked into their warehouse it was a surprising site.

I had lunch today at the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan.  By doing so, I helped feed several people.  You can do the same until 8 tonight.  The Empty Bowls fundraiser allows you to taste delicious soups from several local eateries.  Your ticket price helps to raise money for the Food Bank, who can turn it into lots of meals for lots of people.

The Food Bank of Eastern Michigan hopes you'll join them for "Empty Bowls 2012" on Thursday, September 27th.  The Food Bank is holding this event to celebrate "National Hunger Awareness" month and to raise funds to fight hunger in this area.

Flint Iceland Arena on Elms Road will host an Ice Skating Exhibition on Saturday, December 17th from 11 am to noon, followed by a family open skate from noon to 1:50 pm. Admission to the event is either a canned food item or a financial donation to the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan.

Skateland Arena invites you to come out and have some fun on wheels while helping needy folks in our area at the same time. This Saturday (November 5th) from 1-7 pm you will get free admission with the donation of either: 2 non-perishable food items, a new unwrapped toy or a new or gently used coat.

Have you ever gone to an event at Longway Planetarium? If not, you'll have to stop by their event on Friday for the Walk Around Wine and Food Event which will benefit the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan. You'll be able to sample wine and beer and enjoy some great food from VG's Grocery.

September is National Hunger Action Month so the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan is hosting an empty bowls fundraiser on Thursday from 11am to 2pm and 4 to 7pm at their office on Lapeer Road. The goal is to provide support for food banks, soup kitchens and organizations that fight hunger across the country. For only $15 you can help support this worthy cause.

Continuing its fifth season of providing food for the area's needy families and individuals, Holy Spirit Lutheran Church in Grand Blanc is hosting a free food distribution this Saturday. Each month this summer, HSLC is purchasing thousands of pounds of food from the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan, and distribute it on a first-come, first-served basis.

Local credit unions have teamed up with the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan for the "Hunger Does Not Take a Vacation" campaign. It's all about helping to fight hunger in the community and 13 credit unions with 51 branches in the food bank's serving area have come together for this promotion.

This is a cause which I'm personally very excited about, and proud of as well!
