When Are the Best Christmas Specials on TV?
Now that we have grandkids, I have a valid reason to Tivo 'Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.' There was a painfully-lengthy blackout period between when my boys were little and the grands came along that I didn't get to see it, but now I have an excuse to indulge once again, ya know, 'for the sake of the kids.'
Here's a list of all the great Christmas TV specials (including Rudolph) and when they air this Christmas season. (In order of air dates)
- Frosty the Snowman (1969) Airs Friday, November 23, 8:00 pm and again on Saturday, December 8, 9:00 pm on CBS. (Locally on WNEM-TV 5)
- Santa Claus is Comin' to Town (1970) Airs Friday, November 23, 8:00 pm on ABC. (Locally on WJRT-TV 12)
- How the Grinch Stole Christmas (1966) Airs Friday, November 23, 8:00 pm on NBC (Locally on WEYI-TV 25) and again on Thursday, December 6, 8:00 pm on TBS.
- Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (1964) Airs Tuesday, November 27, 8:00 pm and again on Saturday, December 8, 8:00 pm CBS. (Locally on WNEM-TV 5)
- A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965) Airs Thursday, December 6, 8:00 pm on ABC. (Locally on WJRT-TV 12)
You may have noticed that I left out 'Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer. You're welcome.
