You don't have to sit through a 24-hour marathon of A Christmas Story to watch a Christmas movie anymore.

To be honest, there are SO MANY MOVIES that can be considered Christmas-y without being TOO Christmas-y. Here are some of our picks:

STEP BROTHERS

This Will Ferrell/John C. Reilly film is one of the most underrated comedies in history, in our opinion. Kid-friendly? Not really. But the story spans a time period that includes a fight at the Christmas dinner table, so we consider it a holiday favorite.

GREMLINS

Fight me on this one if you want - it's a freakin' Christmas movie. Gizmo IS a Christmas present for Billy. The emotional climax of the movie is when a guy dies playing Santa Claus. AND THE GREMLINS SING CHRISTMAS CAROLS.

THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS

This one can be argued a million times over, but the fact is that it can be considered a Halloween AND a Christmas movie. And we all know it.

YOU'VE GOT MAIL

No explanation needed. Could even be considered a combo with a Valentine's Day movie.

EDWARD SCISSORHANDS

Tim Burton has a great way of sneaking Christmas into quite a few of his films, and Edward Scissorhands is no exception.

LETHAL WEAPON

Yes, a shoot-out next to a Christmas tree and the final scene with the Murtaughs counts as Christmas.

See? You don't need the Hallmark Channel to enjoy the holidays!
