Singer and song writer, Teena Marie, whose biggest hit "Lovergirl" went to #4 in 1984, died at the age of 54.  CNN reports that the singer was found dead in her home in California by daughter on Sunday.

The cause of death has not yet been determined, but Marie's publicist said the singer suffered from a grand mal seizure about a month ago.

On Christmas Day, the day before she passed, Teena Marie tweeted the following Christmas greeting to her fans and followers:

"May God's Light always shine on you and your family! May you have the most joyous Holliday season ever! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!"
In addition to her solo career, which included 13 albums, Teena Marie also had an extensive collaboration with singer Rick James, who preceded her in death in 2004.
