FDA Warns of Dog Treat Recall Linked to Flint-Area Manufacturer
If you’ve bought pet treats anywhere in the Midwest lately, check the label! A recall is underway for a Michigan-made product.
Made in the Flint Area — Best Buy Bones Identified
The FDA says Best Buy Bones, Inc. of Mount Morris, just north of Flint, is recalling four lots of Nature’s Own Pet Chews Bully Bites after routine testing found possible Salmonella contamination.

The recall affects 16-ounce bags with a “Best Buy” date of September 2027 and lot numbers 19379, 19380, 19381, and 19382. The treats, labeled with UPC 739598900750, were distributed out of Minnesota and sold through stores in Wisconsin and other Midwest locations after September 23, 2025.
What Pet Owners Should Know
So far, no illnesses have been reported in pets or people. The issue was discovered on September 11, when samples tested positive for Salmonella. Best Buy Bones has paused production and is working with the FDA to find the source.
Salmonella can make both pets and people sick. Dogs might develop diarrhea, vomiting, fever, or act tired and lose interest in food. Even healthy pets can spread the bacteria to other animals or people.
How to Check and What to Do
If your pet has eaten these treats and shows symptoms, contact your vet. Consumers who purchased them after September 23 should return or throw them away in a secure spot. Don’t sell, donate, or feed the recalled treats to any animals, and be sure to wash hands and sanitize bowls or containers that touched the product.
For more information, contact Best Buy Bones at (810) 687-2106 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. EST, Monday through Thursday.
