Why is This Mid-Michigan Construction Project Taking So Long?
With all of the Michigan businesses closing up shop lately, it's nice to see new businesses coming in. But how is it that some businesses can complete construction in what seems like record time while others take much, much longer to build?

One such project has been underway since early 2024, and is still yet to be completed. But some investigating reveals not only what will be there, but when it will finally open.
What is Happening at Linden and Bristol Roads in Flint Township?
Workers have been clearing land and beginning construction on a structure at the corner of Bristol and Linden Roads in Flint Township. But in my travels over the last year or so, I was stunned that from the time this particular project started in Mundy Township, the new Costco was not only completed but has since opened.
I spoke with the Flint Township Director of Economic Enhancement, Tracey Tucker, who informed me that the future business will be a gas station which she believes will don the Sunoco brand. Additionally it will be home to a coffee shop on one side and a restaurant on the other.
She also mentioned that officials overseeing the project were out of the country for a few months which halted construction. I asked if this new establishment would be considered a new truck stop along the I-69 corridor, to which she said no. However, diesel fuel will be available.
When Will The New Flint Township Business Open?
I stopped to talk to a construction worker who informed me that they should be open by late spring or early summer. He said that was the deadline to have all of the concrete work and final construction complete.
