According to school officials, a message was sent home to families after a young student had a troubling interaction with a stranger online. Police say the threat itself is not considered credible, but it’s still being taken seriously as the investigation continues.

The situation reportedly started over the weekend when a 4th grade student was contacted on Snapchat by someone she didn’t know. At one point, she briefly shared her location before removing it, and that’s when things took a disturbing turn.
How The Kuehn Haven Middle School Situation Unfolded
That individual then made inappropriate requests, and when the student didn’t respond, the situation escalated into a threat. Even though authorities say there’s no immediate danger to the school, it’s the kind of situation that understandably has parents shaken.

It’s also a tough reminder that even when something doesn’t turn into a real-world threat, these online interactions can escalate quickly and unpredictably. Kids are curious, social media is everywhere, and unfortunately, not everyone they come across has good intentions.
Why This Mid-Michigan Incident Is A Wake-Up Call For Parents
In a message to families, Principal Shawna Birchmeier said the situation was investigated right away alongside the Montrose Police Department and confirmed there is no credible threat at this time. Still, police remain involved.
