
Local School Adds Extra Police After Social Media Threat
From school and church shootings to bomb threats and lockdowns, security has been a big concern around Mid-Michigan lately. Following the recent attack at the church in Grand Blanc Township a few weeks ago, local church, school, and community leaders have been working with law enforcement to strengthen safety measures.

But despite these efforts the threats just keep coming, including another one at a local school over the weekend.
Social Media Threat Triggers Investigation
It looks a little different around Kingston Community Schools this Monday morning (October 20, 2025). Local police have a noticeable presence in and around the campus after a threat surfaced on social media over the weekend.

The Kingston Police Department says they’re working closely with the FBI, Michigan State Police, and the Tuscola County Sheriff’s Office to make sure everyone stays safe. The threat came from a post shared on Snapchat and was quickly flagged by the FBI.
Students Identified and Removed
Officials have identified the students involved, and those individuals have been removed from the school environment. The case is now in the hands of the Tuscola County Prosecutor’s Office, where it will be reviewed for possible charges.
Police Presence Meant to Reassure the Community
Authorities say today’s extra patrols are simply a proactive move to help keep things calm, safe, and normal for students and staff as the new week begins. Here's the statement issued by the school:
