A Michigan middle school teacher is going viral after posting a TikTok video calling out her 6th-grade students for leaving her classroom in disarray. The clip, which shows desks askew and supplies scattered across the floor, has struck a nerve with fellow educators and parents alike, many of whom say they’re glad someone finally said it out loud.

Savanna Pavc shared the video on TikTok after putting her students on blast for the mess, writing, "6th graders should know better."

What the Viral TikTok Shows

Mrs. Pavc, who frequently posts about life as a teacher, offered a tour of the room in disarray and showed the note she left on the whiteboard for the custodial staff:

"Janitorial: Please do not clean the floor. The students will clean up after themselves tomorrow."

Who Is Mrs. Pavc? From Engineering to Education

Pavc told Newsweek that teaching is her second career after spending a decade as an engineer. She believes her students are old enough to take responsibility for their actions.

"This was not the first week of school—they knew the expectations," she said. "I think it's important as teachers to show these life lessons, and that they cannot just expect others to do everything for them."

She added that the custodial team missed her note and cleaned the classroom anyway, but the incident still became a valuable teachable moment the next day.

Why Her Message Resonated

The TikTok clip, posted earlier this month, has been well-received, earning over one million views and hundreds of supportive comments from parents, educators, and custodians alike.
