Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night...nor a kidney. Literally.

Martha Olsen works for the Post Office in Jackson, Michigan. She saw a Facebook post about a father named Dan who needed a kidney and decided to take action. She'd previously thought that only family could donate organs to each other but, when she realized that wasn't the case, decided to get tested.

Unfortunately, after testing, the chance of rejection was too high so she couldn't donate to Dan. However, she went a step further and donated a kidney to a total stranger in Texas.

The best part of this story? Dan found a match, too. And Martha and Dan had surgery on the exact same day.

Martha was presented with the hero award last week from the USPS.
