It's hard to believe that the horrific terrorist attack on September 11th was almost a quarter-of-a-century ago. People under 24 weren't even alive the day the world stood still. But if you remember that morning, it's something you'll never forget.

The Attacks on the Twin Towers

America's symbol of financial strength and global trade, the Twin Towers in New York City were both hit by two separate passenger jets. Within two hours both structures collapsed leaving the country stunned in disbelief.

In New York, the trade center attack and subsequent collapse took the life of 2,753 souls. This includes 343 firefighters, 71 other law enforcement officers and 2,200 civilians and other personnel.

The Pentagon Targeted

As this was happening, we also watched the heart of America's defense being evacuated as The Pentagon in Washington D.C. burned following another intentional plane crash. 64 people on the plane and 125 in The Pentagon were killed in that attack for a total of 184.

Flight 93’s Final Moments

Knowing their flight was doomed, 44 people also died on United flight 93 when passengers stormed the cockpit causing the plane to crash in a field in Pennsylvania, preventing it from hitting its target.

25 Songs That Were Banned From the Radio After 9/11

As we remember the attacks that occurred on 9/11, we remember the way radio was there for listeners all across the country. We lived minute by minute not knowing what was going to happen next. We came together as a nation, and we mourned together. One of the ways radio responded was to be extra-sensitive to our listeners, being careful not to play songs with titles or lyrics that might stir up the raw emotions with which we were all dealing. These are just 25 of those songs.
