In a letter concerning possible fraudulent activity on Facebook, Lake Fenton Assistant Superintendent Julie Williams reminds parents about the vulnerabilities we all face on social media.

Williams explains in this letter, dated March 13, 2015, that someone representing herself as 'Tammy Barnes' has been contacting parents on Facebook. This individual claims to live in Swartz Creek, and have children who attend Lake Fenton schools.

School officials report that there is no parent named Tammy Barnes in their system, and that this individual has begun sending friend requests to parents with children in the Swartz Creek School system.

Although there's no evidence of illegal or nefarious activity, Williams reminds parents that we can never be too careful on social media. She reiterates the importance of not sharing personal information, and that it's prudent to know who your children friend or follow on social media sites.
