In Just a Year, Bakery Goes From Struggling to Busting at the Seams
What a difference a year, and a community can make.
It was back in October of last year that specialty bakery, We'redough, was worried about keeping the doors open. The pandemic had hit just as they were opening in June of 2020, and although they tried to keep things going they were facing the same struggles as many businesses at that time.
We'redough, a locally-owned bakery that features edible cookie dough and other homemade confections, took to their social media that month to let customers know that they would probably have to close their doors at their at 5349 Fenton Road. And then a miracle and a community happened.
Just after the announcement was made, people showed up in droves to support the struggling business. The line was out the door and by 5 pm that day the bakery had sold out of their delicious goods. Since then the community has shown love and support and business has been better than ever, so much so they are busting at the seams.
Owner Jessica McGuire and her husband have announced they are moving the popular company to a bigger location to accommodate the popularity of the bakery and their growing business. The new location will be in the Valley Plaza off Miller road. A spot that will be much bigger than their current location.
"We don't have any more physical space for fridges and freezers and we also don't have any more capacity at our electrical panel, so we had to move because we are just bursting at the seams here", McGuire told Mid-Michigan NOW.
The move to the new Flint Township location will allow McGuire and her team to expand their hours, hire new employees, and even introduce some new features such as baking classes. While things are being prepped for the new and improved We'redough location, set to open in January, they will remain open in Grand Blanc Township.
We'redough is also offering up a chance to invest in the growth their locally owned business and renovations to their new location. Want to support local? Click here for more details.
