The student whose December 19th prank caused much of the Grand Blanc school district to go in to lock down has been charged.  The 15-year old is being charged as a juvenile, so the name will not be released. Law enforcement was on high alert because the prank happened just days after the horrific shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

The student that caused school officials and local law enforcement to believe there were several shooters at Grand Blanc High School has been charged with False Report of Terrorism, a 20-year felony.

According to NBC 25, Genesee County Prosecutor David Layton said, “What ultimately turned out to be a prank was, in reality, no joke.”  He continued to say, “It resulted in great disruption to an entire community, sent fears through the hearts and minds of hundreds of students, teachers, and parents, and caused tremendous amounts of public resources to be spent responding to and following up on the incident.”

Tune in to our sister station, News/Talk 1470 WFNT this Monday, February 11, as Tom Sumner interviews Genesee County Prosecutor David Layton regarding the hoax.
