27-Year-Old Man Killed Outside Metro Detroit Recording Studio
Michigan musicians are still trying to process what happened after a deadly shooting outside a popular recording studio in Oak Park early Friday morning.
Where Did the Music Studio Shooting Happen?
Police say a 27-year-old man was shot and killed around 2 a.m. outside Sanctuary Studios, near 8 Mile and Meyers. Officers arrived to find the victim dead inside a vehicle. According to WXYZ Detroit, no one else was hurt, and investigators have not released the victim's identity.
Artists Say Studio Was Known as a Safe Place
For the people who work there, the news came as a complete shock. Sound engineer and producer Antonio "Big Tone" Hood says Sanctuary Studios has always been exactly what its name suggests. A safe place where local artists come together to create music, not violence. He says he never imagined someone would lose their life there.

Detroit recording artist Deargod echoed those thoughts, saying he's spent years at the studio without ever feeling unsafe and has even brought family and friends there.
Business Owners Frustrated as Police Continue Searching for Answers
The shooting also rattled nearby business owners. Amber George, who recently moved her business to Oak Park after another fatal shooting near her previous location in Detroit, says it's frustrating to see violence continue to impact local businesses and their customers.
