Get Moving In Flint With The 4th Annual Active & Healthy Kids Day
Harambe Wellness is inviting you and your kids to get moving this weekend at their 4th annual Active & Healthy Kids Day.
Harambe Wellness is focused on helping everyone in our community lead a healthy lifestyle. The Active & Healthy Kids Day is just one of many events that they host to boost healthy activities in Flint. The day gets started on Saturday, October 9th at 10am at the Coolidge Park Gym, and it's free for anyone that would like to attend.
The day is focused around getting kids into healthy activities, but it's not just for kids. The entire family is encouraged to come out and participate in the healthy activities.
What type of activities are happening Saturday?
There are a variety of activities that you can participate in, but you should register here before going. Here is the lineup of events from the registration page.
- 10:00am - 1:00pm // Field Day Games We're taking it old school with all the fun games from back in the day to get the body moving!
- 10:00am - 1:00pm // Food Demonstrations Learn healthy new ways to snack and walk away with a tasty treat!
- 10:30am // FAMILY YOGA (Bring a mat) Have fun with the family in this all-levels, all-bodies yoga class. This won’t be your usual yoga class – we’ll focus on breathing while having some laughs.
- 11:00am // TODDLER FIT TIME WITH CADIE FIT 'N FUN Our youngest presenter and fitness enthusiast, at almost 3 years old, will lead a fun fitness circuit. Cadie will show you and your little ones that fitness starts at any age!
Even though registration is encouraged, just know that there is no cost for the event.
Events like this from Harambe Wellness are all part of the bigger picture plan to help Flint fully recover from the trauma of the last 10 years.
Our city was still in recovery mode from the Flint Water Crisis when the Covid pandemic took hold. The long lasting health problems could be catastrophic if there were no programs to help get people out and moving. That's why the work that Harambe is doing is so important. By taking a community approach to an active and health lifestyle, it's easier for everyone to support each other.
