Sinclair Broadcast Group, which owns Flint's WSMH (Fox 66), announced plans Thursday to purchase 18 TV stations from Barrington Broadcasting Group, owner of WEYI (NBC-25) and WBSF (CW-46) in Clio.

Published reports indicate that Sinclair will purchase the 18 stations for $320 million. The sale is subject to approval by the FCC, and expected to be completed during the second quarter of 2013.

In addition to the Flint-area properties that will be sold, Barrington also owns four stations in the Traverse City/Cadillac area, one in Marquette, and multiple properties in nine other states.

Sinclair has not yet announced any plans regarding programming or personnel changes. Bill Harris joined WEYI in January of 2012, three months after Joel Feick landed at the NBC affiliate as host of its morning news program. Harris and Feick departed WJRT in April of 2011 when the ABC station was sold to SJL Broadcasting.
