Former Spartan Shannon Brown Arrested After Shooting At Intruders

Former Michigan State standout, and 2x NBA Champion, Shannon Brown was arrested earlier this week.

The details around the arrest are sketchy at best, but one thing that everyone agrees on is that Brown fired a rifle at people who walked into his house. I know that sounds like a pretty clear cut case, but the deeper you dig, the less clear it becomes. Let's start with the details around the people who walked into Brown's house.

According to TMZ, two people were house hunting in Tyrone, GA when they came across a home with a "For Sale" sign on it. They said the gate was open, and the door was too. They yelled into the open door, and claim that they heard someone tell them to come in. They claim after they walked in Brown came out with a shotgun and fired 5 or 6 shots at them.

I'll point out the things I find odd in this story in just a moment.

Bossip is reporting that Brown told police that he thought the couple was breaking into his home, and fired one shot in the air to scare them. Brown was eventually arrested and released on bond. Police did confirm that they only found one shotgun casing on the scene.

Let's look at this from a real life perspective real quick. If you've ever bought a new house, you know how the basics of looking at houses works. You have a realtor, or look online, you make an appointment to see the house, then you go look. I don't know if I've ever heard of someone just walking through neighborhoods looking for empty houses.

Let's pretend that just walking through neighborhoods looking for houses was normal. After you find one, don't you think you would call to make an appointment first? Would you just walk into a house in a gated community thinking that you could just, "take a peak?"

Who knows, maybe they do things differently in Georgia, but my gut is telling me that Brown is probably going to be cleared of any wrongdoing.
