A fitting tribute for Calvin Munerlyn.

Madison Academy in Flint has named Calvin, known to his friends as 'Duper,' their Parent of the Year.

Calvin was 43-years-old when he was killed last Friday while trying to enforce a mask policy at the Family Dollar on Saginaw St., just outside of downtown Flint.

He was a father of eight; four of his children currently attend Madison Academy and two more of them previously attended.

Principal Christel Drew told ABC 12 News yesterday that they are going to rename the award the 'Super Duper' parent award in his honor.

Drew also said, "Our final senior serenade, will be at the Munerlyn home, in which our entire staff, our elementary staff our New Standard family, all of us are going to do a drive-by to tell the Munerlyn family that we are here for them."

In a press conference yesterday, police acknowledged that he was, in fact, killed while trying to enforce the face mask policy. Two of the three suspects, 44-year-old Larry Edward Teague and 23-year-old Ramonyea Bishop, are still at large as of last night.
