Two Flint police officers received a high honor after saving a mentally ill man who jumped into the Flint River.

Officers Michael Henige and Cody Johnson responses to a call about a man with a psychiatric condition on June 1st, who had fled and jumped into the Flint River. When they couldn't coax him back to shore, they put their gear back into their vehicle and went into the river to rescue him.

Last week, on July 8th, the men were both honored with the Chief of Police Merit certificate for outstanding service. Congrats, guys!
