Flint Family Pushes For Change After Tragedy
Ever since that heartbreaking night, his family has been pushing lawmakers to make sure crimes like this carry much harsher consequences moving forward. Now, it looks like that fight is making progress according to ABC 12.

The Michigan House has officially passed new legislation that would increase penalties for people who fire into occupied homes or vehicles, especially in cases where children are hurt or killed. One of the biggest parts of the proposal would make life without parole mandatory for someone who shoots into a populated area and kills a child.
Recent Flint Shooting Renews Calls For Action
Sadly, the timing of this legislation couldn’t feel more real. Just days ago, another tragedy unfolded in Flint when a 9-year-old girl was killed and her 12-year-old sister was critically injured after hundreds of bullets were fired into their home. Police say it was a targeted drive-by shooting, but once again, innocent children ended up paying the price.

You can understand why families across Michigan are emotionally exhausted by stories like these. Kids should be safe in their homes. Safe in their beds. Safe just being children.

These criminals need to be punished for their crimes. But when innocent kids are needlessly murdered for no reason, more severe consequences are needed.
