A 70-year-old Fenton man is $390,000 richer after winning the Michigan Lottery's Lucky for Life game — but his family doesn’t know it yet. He’s keeping the prize a secret for now, planning what he calls a surprise they’ll never forget.

Fenton Man Wins $390K Playing Lucky for Life

Kenneth Stayt won the big prize by playing the Michigan Lottery's Lucky for Life game. He matched all five white balls drawn on July 19 and recently visited lottery headquarters to claim his check.

He Bought the Winning Ticket at Sagebrush Cantina

The lucky player changed up his routine a little, buying his winning ticket at the Sagebrush Cantina on Fenton Road.

“I go to Sagebrush Cantina regularly and usually play Club Keno while I’m there, but this time I purchased a Lucky for Life ticket instead,” Stayt told the Michigan Lottery.

He checked the winning numbers online and was amazed to see that all of his numbers matched. Stayt chose a lump-sum payment of $390,000 rather than $25,000 per year for 20 years or life — whichever is greater.

“This is a life-changing amount of money that will allow me to live easy and not have to worry about things,” he said.

Plans to Surprise Family with Lottery Winnings

Stayt managed to keep his big win under wraps until he claimed his prize.

“I’ve been keeping my big win a secret from my kids, and now that I have my check, I plan to surprise them with the money!”
