A longtime Detroit news anchor has decided to call it a day after an illustrious 30-year career at the station known as 'Local 4.'

Devin Scillian has been with Detroit's WDIV-TV for three decades and says that since 30 is a nice round number, it's a good time to announce his upcoming retirement.

Devin Scillian's Sincere Message to Viewers

Scillian made the heartfelt announcement at the end of his 6:00 PM news broadcast Tuesday (10/15), noting that he and his wife Corey had never dreamed of making Detroit their home for three decades.

"My wife Corey and I laugh that when we came to Detroit in 1995 we thought we would have a cup of coffee and move on," Scillian says in the video below. "Well the waitress kept refilling our cups and we found a very lovely and rich life here for us and our four children, and two Kansans feel very much like Michiganders today."

In this statement on WDIV's webpage, Scillian confirms that he'll stay on with the NBC affiliate through December 13. He also heaps praise on some of the station's former reporters who have moved on to prestigious positions with NBC, the Associated Press, and CNN.

What's Next for Devin Scillian?

After decades of working until midnight, the longtime anchor says he looks forward to being able to spend evenings with his wife.

He's also been fronting a country band known as Arizona Son and looks forward to dedicating more time to the band.

Another one of Scillian's passions is writing children's books, as he just recently released his 22nd publication.
