The fans have spoken and now the wait is on to see if the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame agrees.

On January 15th of the class of 2020 inductees for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame will be announced, but the fans have had their say already. The fan votes were tabulated and the top five fan favorites have been announced.

Voting ended on January 10th, and finishing big at the the top with more than 1 million votes is the Dave Matthews Band. Rounding out the top five in this year’s fan vote are Pat Benatar, The Doobie Brothers, Soundgarden and Judas Priest.  Each of the leaders this year are first-time nominees with the exception of Judas Priest.

Since the Fan Vote becomes one ballot, it will be weighted equally along with the 1,000 others cast by industry professionals. This means there are no guarantees they'll be inducted based on what the fans want. Still, the past has shown that 61% of artists who earned a spot on the fan ballot since 2013 were ultimately inducted into the Hall of Fame according to Future Rock Legends.

The Rock Hall will officially announce the class of 2020 this Wednesday with the 2020 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony being held at Public Auditorium in Cleveland, Ohio on May 2nd.
