Don't worry, the changes won't affect the ball itself.

It's not the first time it's happened, and it probably won't be the last.

The letters underneath the iconic Flint weather ball are being changed to H and B in green and white. This comes after Huntington Bank acquired First Merit Bank in 2016 for $3.4 billion.

The senior vice president of Huntington Bank says that they're aware of what an icon the weather ball is to Flint and our skyline and that they want to keep the integrity of it.

This will be the third change to the letters on the weather ball, which has been up since 1956. The original "CB" for Citizens Bank was changed to "FM" for First Merit. Huntington is working with the Sloan Museum to preserve the letters.

And here I am, completely amazed that I've been able to type out a story with the word "ball" in it without laughing.
