Caro Family Needs Donations for 5-Year-Old With Brain Tumor [VIDEO]
His father told WNEM that he only has 18 months to live and they want to make sure that they get "the best for him."
5-year-old Ian Pomeroy was diagnosed with a brain tumor after falling off the monkey bars at school. They noticed that he wasn't acting like himself, so they took him into the doctor. He was diagnosed with a Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma, or DIPG - an inoperable tumor.
The doctors have given him a year and a half to live. He'll be making weekly trips to Mott Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor for treatment to keep him comfortable, but the constant care means that his mom can no longer work. His dad, Steve, says that he would rather spend time with him instead of working, but he has other kids to take care of.
Several fundraisers have been planned - there's a spaghetti dinner on Nov. 14 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Caro Knights of Columbus Hall. There's also an online party HERE.
His school is also having a fundraiser:
