Flint Public Library Looking To Raise $300K For Renovations
Flint's Public Library is in need of some pretty important renovations to bring everything up to speed.
With the final push for this last bit of donations, the new Flint Public Library will be set up for the next few decades. A drop in the hat compared to other things in Flint that need desperate attention, this one should be a no-brainer.
“One of the things that’s unique about the Library is that it’s the only building on the Cultural Center Campus that’s completely owned by the people of Flint,” says Kay Schwartz, Library Director. “There’s a lot of pride of ownership in this Library. For that reason, we’re excited to invite everyone to engage in this work, at whatever level makes sense for them. Every gift gets us closer to our goal."
We should have more pride in our community and take these moments as opportunities to show what we can do when we come together. The library is looking to do some pretty awesome upgrades for Flint residents to enjoy.
The renovated Library will have:
- 66% more space for local history and genealogy
- 15 meeting rooms
- Four classrooms
- An additional 16,000 sq. ft. of space available to the public
- More accessible areas for people with limited mobility . Soure:NBC25.com
The renovations are aimed at being completed by November 2021. I love seeing Flint evolve with the times, but it's gonna take us as a community to evolve with it as well.
