America's Thanksgiving Parade takes on Woodward Avenue in Detroit on November 25th.

The streets of Detroit will come alive once again next week as America's Thanksgiving Parade returns to Woodward Avenue. After a scaled-down version of the parade last year, America's Thanksgiving Parade is back and bigger than ever for 2021.

When and where will America's Thanksgiving Parade take place?

If you and the family are planning on going to America's Thanksgiving Parade, you will want to head to downtown Detroit on Thursday, November 25th, 2021. The action will be taking place roughly from 8:45 am until noon that day. Starting at 8:45 am the parade will begin at Woodward Avenue and Kirby Street. From there, it will march along Woodward to Congress Street. The Opening Act for the parade is a special live performance of the Broadway musical 'The Lion King.'

Who are the 2021 Grand Marshals of the 2021 parade?

The Grand Marshals for America's Thanksgiving Parade 2021 are:

  • Calvin Johnson Jr. - a.k.a. Megatron
  • Bishop Edgar Vann
  • Marla Druta (Honorary Grand Marshal)

Can I watch the parade on TV?

Yes. America's Thanksgiving Parade will be broadcast on WDIV-Local 4 from 6 am until noon.

I am very happy to see this parade returning at full capacity. Several years ago, my brother and I went roaming around Detroit on Thanksgiving to take in the sites and the parade. It's pretty awesome to have a brother that has lived in Detroit his whole life and can take you to all the cool and hidden spots in a situation like that. However, if you do head to downtown Detroit for the parade, you may want to stay away from the YMCA. We stopped there to use the restroom and it was the staging area for the Distinguished Clown Corps...it was terrifying. We were surrounded by hundreds of clowns.
