Winter Weather Advisory For Mid-Michigan
This weekend is lining us up for some seriously cold weather for the upcoming week and the party is getting started later today with a couple of inches of snow all over Mid-Michigan.
The advisories don't go into effect till 4 pm today. So the smart thing to do would be to grab your groceries today and chill inside for the weekend.
2-4 inches for the vast majority of areas south of the Saginaw Bay and east of the US-127 corridor for Shiawassee, Genesee, Lapeer, Sanilac, Saginaw, Tuscola,
Huron, Bay and southeastern Midland counties.
Heavier snowfall of 3-5 inches is likely in Gratiot, Isabella and Clare counties with northwestern Midland, Gladwin, Arenac Ogemaw and Iosco counties included as well.
Wind picks up Friday and will keep blowing snow an issue throughout the day so plan ahead for some cleared roads to be slippery again, along with visibility issues as snow falls and after. Source:NBC25.com
The snow isn't the bad part about winter. It's the wind. Combine that with some unpleasant temperatures and you've got a recipe for black ice and a miserable weekend. The party won't start until later tonight carrying over to Friday. Then from the looks of it, all of next week's temperatures will be below 20 degrees.
I've been dreading these wintery days. Every year in Michigan we get slapped across the face with a low-temperature week with high winds. Unfortunately, it looks like that week is upon us...
