Why Tiger Woods Is In Michigan…to Watch Golf
Next week, the legendary Tiger Woods will be making a special trip to Michigan, but this time, it's not to showcase his own incredible golf skills. Instead, he'll be there to support his rising star son, Charlie Woods, as he competes in the prestigious 2024 U.S. Junior Amateur at the iconic Oakland Hills Country Club in Bloomfield Hills.
Charlie Woods, 15, is making quite a name for himself already in the golf world. He is set to tee off in the 256-player field that will play from July 22-27. His father won the prestigious tourney three consecutive times himself from 1991-1993, and now it's Chalie's turn to shine.
Charlie Woods secured his spot for the U.S. Junior Amateur tournament by shooting a one-under-par 71 at a qualifier held at Eagle Trace Golf Club in Florida. Of course, spectators will be on hand to watch the younger Woods show off his amazing skills as he vies for his first big title, but there will be more than just fans cheering him on.
The Golf Channel reported during “Live From The Open” that Tiger Woods will be making his way to Michigan to watch his son play. Reports say Tiger will hop a flight to Michigan after he finishes at The Open Championship in Scotland.
Tiger will be just another parent on the sidelines during the tournament at OHCC and most likely pretty stressed out too. If Charlie wins the U.S. Junior Amateur title he will receive a spot in the 2025 US Open field. Not too shabby.
