Where Does Michigan Rank in List of Most-Stressed States?
Turns out, Michiganders aren't as stressed out as one might think. Michigan ranks at #22 on Movoto's list of the most-stressed states.
The most-stressed state in the US? Florida. (Really??!?)
The website used six factors that cause adults the most stress.
- Percentage of population with a long commute (over 20 minutes)
- Unemployment
- Hours worked
- Population density
- Percentage of income spent on housing
- Percentage of population without health insurance
You'd think the sunshine and easy-going lifestyle would be relaxing for Floridians. But it's the state's high unemployment and lack of health insurance that send its residence over the edge.
Here's the top 10:
- Florida
- Georgia
- New Jersey
- California
- Nevada
- Illinois
- New York
- Maryland
- North Carolina
- Arizona
The site used US Census data from 2008-2012, which ranked Michigan 1st in unemployment, and 33rd in the nation for individuals without health insurance.
