West Michigan Brings In Courthouse Therapy Dogs – The Good News
The dogs are there to help children and vulnerable adults who are stuck in the Kent County court system.
The county has 22 therapy dogs in two courthouses as part of their pilot program. The idea is to help kids focus on something else if and when they have to testify, and keeps them calm during stressful situations.
You can actually REQUEST a dog in the courtroom in Kent County by contacting the prosecutors or victims office. The dogs will be present with their handlers. One of the dogs has already been used with a child during court.
West Michigan Therapy Dogs are providing the comforting canines to the court.
