Tucked away on the western edge of Genesee County, Gaines Township is the home to about 6,800 residents, including me. The website Homesnacks.net ranked 194 cities and towns in Michigan with a population of 5,000 or more. Thetford Township and Lapeer Township also made the site's Top 10.
Muskegon Heights was deemed the most-dangerous in Michigan, with Flint landing in the bottom five.
The site used FBI data to analyze communities with a population of 5,000 or more, taking into account violent crimes per capita, property crimes per capita, and total crimes per capita.
Here are the Top 10 safest cities, according to Homesnacks.net:
- Gaines Township
- Raisin Township
- Lapeer Township
- Thetford Township
