The Good News: Flint Senior is First at School to Receive Gates Millennium Scholarship [VIDEO]

Her mom was expecting to have to get a second job to pay for her college, until yesterday.

Zakeria Nelson is a senior at International Academy of Flint, and the first student at the school to receive the Gates Millennium Scholarship, which was started by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. It gives her a free ride to any school of her choice, with the opportunity to pursue her masters degree if she wants.

She plans on attending Kettering to study computer engineering. Love this story! Especially the fact that her mom said she would get a second job to help her go to school to "follow her dreams." So glad that the pressure is off! Congratulations, Zakeria!
