With almost no warning, George Lopez is out of the late-night comedy business. TBS has unceremoniously pulled the plug on the comedian's TV variety show, saying that Thursday night's show will be his last.

Lopez surrendered his 11 p.m. time slot to make room for Conan O'Brien in November, after Jay Leno ousted O'Brien from the "Tonight Show" thrown. Ratings for "Lopez Tonight" have fallen since the show began airing at midnight.

"TBS has reached the difficult decision not to order a third season of 'Lopez Tonight,'" the network said, in a published report, and added that it was proud to have worked with the "immensely talented comedian and entertainer."
