I'm not going to tiptoe around this. Yes. The answer is yes. Hell yes, actually.

We require kids to have certain inoculations before going to kindergarten, some employers impose mandatory drug testing, and some job listings require a valid driver's license even for non-driving related jobs.

You've seen the headlines.

  • A TV weather reporter in nearby Detroit is claiming that her employer has violated her rights by requiring COVID-19 testing. (See the video of her on-air diatribe here.)
  • In Texas, a total of 153 people have either resigned or been fired from Houston Methodist  Hospital because they've refused to get the COVID-19 vaccine.
  • The Delta variant of COVID-19 (which is now prevalent in Michigan) is 60% more contagious than other strains of the disease. The Centers for Disease Control expects this strain to be the dominant strain of the disease in the United States.

The second one is the one that really grinds my gears. How is it possible that 153 healthcare workers would choose to end their employment rather than get the COVID-19 vaccine? They are healthcare workers. People who are around sick people who are trying to get well.

These 153 people got exactly what they deserved.

Sports and Concert Venues Require Vaccine Proof

  • Erie County officials in New York will require fans of the Buffalo Bills and Sabres to show proof of vaccination in order to attend games.
  • The Foo Fighters recently played a show at New York's Madison Square Garden. Every fan in attendance was required to show proof of vaccination.

But healthcare workers should be allowed to work in a hospital without being vaccinated? Puh-leeze.

Feel free to weigh in in the comments section. You won't change my mind.

I wish my employer would implement a mandatory vaccination policy.
