Just days after it was announced that Staples was pulling out of its Courtland Center location in Burton, news comes that the space will be the new home of Ross Dress for Less, a discount department store chain.

The California-based Ross Stores, Inc., operating under the brand name Ross Dress for Less, announced back in February of this year they would be opening several new locations across Michigan in 2023. At the time there was no confirmation that one of the new stores would be coming to the area, but luckily for those that love a great deal that's changed.

According to reports, the space that will be vacated by Staples in June at Courtland Center will be the new home to Ross Dress for Less. ABC12 states that the retailer already has building permits in hand to remodel the Staples storefront and reopen later this year.

Mayor Duane Haskins commented that the new arrival is a win for Burton and the city is focused on bringing new businesses to the area and has hired a firm that will assist in that process.

"I think they will do good and help us bring in some business. We have had other businesses that have approached us and are coming in that look like very good potentials," he told ABC12.

As of this story, there is no official opening date for the popular discount store, but we will keep you posted as details emerge.
