Watch footage of today's 5th annual paczki eating contest at VG's!

What a way to celebrate Fat Tuesday!

Rod and Steph from the Cars 108 morning show took it on the road to VG's of Davison for their 5th annual paczki eating contest, this year to benefit the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan.

All of our contestants made a valiant effort to pound down as many paczkis as they could in 90 seconds. We would like to thank them all for being such good sports and for their donations of non-perishable items for the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan.

A huge thank you also goes to the friendly and fantastic staff of VG's in Davison. They were kind enough to host our event this morning, and to donate the very tasty paczkis as well. If you are going to indulge today, VG's is the place to start. Their bakery rocks!

We had the biggest crowd ever, this year. Thank you to everyone that came out to encourage our contestants. Your enthusiasm kept us all stuffing our faces!

Tim Bishop finished second this year with 3 1/2 paczkis. He had to hand the trophy he's held for four years to Brenden Baily of Hank Graff Chevrolet of Davison. Brenden has been in training for a week solid, and that paid off with an impressive four paczkis to win this year's contest. There were a lot of third place winners with a paczki and a half to their credit. I was proud to be included in that group...last year I don't think I finished one! Honorable mention goes to Flint Mayor Dayne Walling, who finished last this year with only one paczki under his belt. His excuse was Tim Bishop's rather disgusting eating technique. We'll have to give him that one...it threw the rest of us off too!

Hank Graff of Davison took home a second trophy for collecting and donating almost 800 items of food to benefit the Food Bank of Eastern Michigan. Fernco also did a fantastic job, with almost 400 items collected.

Now for the good stuff...the footage!

The paczki eating frenzy continues!

If you ate your way thru Fat Tuesday or just want to take advantage of a free Zumba class, join George McIntyre tonight at Chasse Ballroom and Latin Dance Studio in Fenton from 5-7pm for their Burn off the Paczkis Open House.

We're already thinking about some fun twists and turns for next year's event. Stay tuned!
