Oldest 9/11 Search Dog Honored With Birthday Party [VIDEO]
There are only two search and rescue dogs still alive who worked at the World Trade Center on 9/11, and one of them was just honored with a kick-butt birthday party.
Bretagne (pronounced Brittany) made national headlines when she searched for survivors and comforted firefighters on and after September 11th, 2001. She and one other dog, out of the 300 that were at the World Trade Center+, are still alive. And on her birthday, she got the royal treatment.
Bretagne just turned 16 (which is over 100 in dog years), and she and her owner were flown to New York City. They were given a hotel room near Central Park, gourmet dog food, a ride in a vintage taxi, a trip to the splash pad and a key to the city.
She also had a billboard in Times Square, and a cobblestone was dedicated to her and her owner at the 9/11 museum.
This story made me all misty-eyed. I love it. What a wonderful story on such a terrible day that our country will never forget.
