Two longtime Italian eateries in the Detroit area are saying their goodbyes. One has already closed. The other is set to shut its doors by the end of June.

There’s no shortage of Italian food in metro Detroit, from upscale pasta houses to casual pizza joints. But this month, two of the area’s favorites are vanishing from the map.

Moro’s Dining Closes After 45 Years

Moro’s Dining was a local favorite for 45 years, known for its upscale experience and classic Italian fare. But the elegant dining at Moro’s came to a sudden halt on June 8.

According to Men’s Journal, callers to the Detroit restaurant were met with a recorded message confirming the closure:

“Hello, you have reached Moro’s Dining. We are closed, but would like to thank you for all your prayers and well wishes. Chef Thomas Moro is doing fine. Thank you for listening. Goodbye.”

Ferlito’s Restaurant Sets Closing Date

Another Italian staple is also writing its final chapter. On June 29, Ferlito’s Restaurant in Grosse Pointe Woods will close its doors for good. Owner Joshua Mownen broke the news to customers on social media.

“After 10 unforgettable years, we’ve made the incredibly hard decision to close Ferlito’s Restaurant,” the post read. “Our last day of service will be Sunday, June 29.”

The announcement noted that the restaurant had made many adjustments over the years but would be unable to continue operating into the future. Mownen also expressed gratitude to patrons who supported Ferlito’s over the years:

“You’ve been part of something truly special, and we’ll never forget it.”

Ferlito’s Carry-Out Location Will Remain Open

While the main restaurant is closing, Men’s Journal reports that Ferlito’s still has a carry-out location in St. Clair Shores.
