Michigan’s Big, Bright Light Show Extended
The year has been so tough that many are making the decision to keep their Christmas lights up a little longer this year just to keep the spirit of the season alive. Now it looks like the City of Rochester is jumping on board with that thought.
The City of Rochester announced that their Big, Bright Light Show, that was set to go dim on January 3, will now stay bright through January 31, 2021. The lights will be shinning every night 5 PM - Midnight. This is the 15th year for the holiday attraction that features over 1 million points of light along the streets.
The city is also adding to the excitement with the addition of The Downtown Rochester Snowglow. The event will include ice sculptures lining the streets, live ice carving demonstrations and more. The Snowglow theme this year is "Christmas Cheer" and will feature sculptures of Frost the Snowman, Buddy the Elf, and even the National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation station wagon.
“After all, we are Christmas City,” Kristi Trevarrow, Executive Director of the Rochester Downtown Development Authority told Rochester Media. “We wanted to continue to spread the happiness and cheer that the holiday season and The Big, Bright Light Show bring into the New Year".
The Downtown Rochester Snowglow, will being happening on Friday, January 15 from 5:00 – 9:00 p.m. & Saturday, January 16 from 10:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. There will also be a Ice Carving Competition taking place Saturday from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on West Fourth Street in downtown.
