Michigan Couple With 14 Sons Finally Welcomes a Baby Girl [VIDEO]
You know the old expression, the 15th time's the charm, right? A West Michigan couple with 14 sons has finally been blessed with a baby girl.
The idea of a daughter seemed elusive to Kateri Schwandt and her husband Jay. But on Thursday (11/5) Maggie Jayne came into the world weighting 7 lbs., 8 oz. The parents tell WOOD-TV that they “are overjoyed and beyond excited to add Maggie Jayne to our family.”
The family's sons range in age from two to 28 years old.
Tyler, the couple's oldest son, says he doubts his foks have any pink clothing. He recently left the nest, buying a home about 20 minutes away from his parents' farm.
“I don’t even know if my mom owns any pink clothing — or anything,” said Tyler.
Regardless of their lack of baby clothes, they couple is delighted to welcome a daughter into the world.
“This year has been memorable in so many ways, for so many reasons, but Maggie is the greatest gift we could ever imagine,” Jay Schwandt told the Detroit News.
Earlier this year, we shared the news that the Schwandt family was getting its own online reality show called '14 Outdoorsmen.' Now the family jokes that they may have to find a new name for the show.
The couple didn't choose to find out the sex of their 15th baby ahead of time, which made for a special delivery room surprise when Maggie was born.
